August 17, 2012-Kassel, Germany

We are on the train headed to Kassel.  It was supposed to take 1 hour to get there but after 3 different trains and 1 bus we arrived after 3 1/2 hours.  Oh the adventures.

We're in Kassel, but now what?
We got on this bus and headed up a hill.
What's on the other side?

A huge Hercules Statue...
and a castle.

So through the forest we go and up the mountain to see the castle first.
This is in the courtyard of the castle.

The Löwenburg is being renovated but was built as an artificial ruin.

This was behind the castle.  It was fun going up the terraces.
In the castle garden.
Then we headed to the statue, but passed this on the way.
Two times a week they have a water display.  The water starts at the top and erupts as a geyser at the bottom.
This is the view from the top of the Hercules Statue.
We saw this as we headed back down the mountain.  It almost doesn't look real.
