November 9-10 Maw Maw and Paw Paw Arrive and we go to Heidelberg, Germany

What an exciting day when they arrived on the ICE Train.  I had not been that excited since I was a child waiting for Christmas to get here
They spent one night in Göttingen and then we took the train to Heidelberg, Germany.  This is a fountain we passed while riding the bus in Heidelberg.  I have never seen a fountain gushing with so much water.
A busy city street in Heidelberg.
Joshua and Mary Beth
A beautiful church in Heidelberg.

This is a man posed as a statue. He liked to make noises as people walked by or reach out and tap them with his cane as they passed.  It was very entertaining to watch him.
The Heidelberg Schloss (Castle)

A view from the castle.
Another view from the castle.  The bridge with all of the arches is The Old Bridge and is a place where a battle was fought (pretty informative, huh? or I could say it is where something happened).
More pictures of the castle.
I liked the little cottage in the bottom left of the picture.
We rode a train that went straight up the mountain to see the castle.  You could also go above the castle.  This was the view.
We spent the night in this hotel.
Some pretty things to see while walking in Heidelberg.

Standing on The Old Bridge with the view of the castle in the background.
The Gate to The Old Bridge.
The castle was built over several different time periods and you could easily tell because there were different architectural styles.  This picture is taken from Philosopher's Way which winds its way up the mountain.

It was also Paw Paw's birthday while we were in Heidelberg.
The kids had their picture taken with the statues.  Afterward, Luke said he was scared.
